Meet the World's 20 most lucrative football clubs

Delloite just launched the 17th edition of its study named Money Football League where, year upon year, the financial results from a great number of worldwide football clubs are analised and then classified in a chart with the 20 most lucrative contenders.

The top 20 clubs this year have a combined result of 5.4 thousand million euros, which translates into a growth of 8% in comparison with the previous year, a number that proves top football resilience. In the nation contest the 2 top clubs are Spanish with Real Madrid beating rival Barcelona, but the country with more teams in the chart is England with 6 clubs ranked amongst the best.

Os 20 clubes mais rentáveis do futebol mundial nesta época

A Delloite lançou a 17ª edição do seu estudo Money Football League onde, ano após ano, são analisados os resultados financeiros dos vários clubes do futebol mundial e são posteriormente devidamente ordenados num tabela classificativa com 20 posições.

Os 20 clubes deste ano têm no seu total receitas de 5.4 mil milhões de euros, o que significa um crescimento de 8% em relação ao ano anterior, número que comprova que o futebol de topo tem conseguido resistir à crise que afecta tantos outros mercados. Em termos de países os 2 primeiros lugares são ocupados por clubes espanhóis, com o Real Madrid a ganhar ao rival Barcelona mas o país com maior número de clubes neste campeonato é a Inglaterra com 6 clubes classificados entre os melhores.

Neymar's tranfer costed 38 millions more than stated by Barcelona

According to the Spanish newspaper El Mundo, Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior transfer from Santos did not cost Barcelona the 57 million euros that were stated by the club president Sandro Rosell.

The newspaper reports that the real value of the transfer is around 95 million euros and the diverging 38 millions are due to hidden commissions.

Amongst these commissions there should be an amount of 8.5 million euros payed to various of Neymar's family members, including 2 millions payed to his father supposedly to scout young Santos talents, 4 million to other family members to secure publicity contracts in Brazil and 2.5 millions that are supposed to go towards helping kid in Santos shanty towns.

These hidden commissions are already under investigation by Spanish authorities and El Mundo revealed hours ago that Rosell met with the board and decided to resign from Barcelona's presidency, with the announcement to be made in a press conference minutes from now.

Transferência de Neymar ficou 38 milhões mais cara que o anunciado

Segundo o jornal El Mundo, a transferência de Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior, do Santos para o Barcelona terá ficado mais cara que os 57 milhões de euros que foram anunciados, pelo presidente do clube catalão, Sandro Rosell.

O jornal espanhol afirma que o valor real da transferência rondará os 95 milhões de euros, sendo a diferença de 38 milhões devida a comissões que foram escondidas.

Destas contam-se 8.5 milhões pagos à família de Neymar, com 2 milhões entregues ao pai com a justificação de compensação, por futuros serviços de prospeção de novos talentos nas camadas jovens do Santos, 4 milhões para outros familiares assegurarem contratos publicitários no Brasil e 2.5 milhões supostamente para acções de solidariedade para com as crianças das favelas de São Paulo.

Estas comissões já estão a ser investigadas pelas autoridades espanholas, sendo que o El Mundo, revelou há poucas horas que Rosell em conjunto com a direção, terá decidido apresentar a demissão do cargo de presidente do Barcelona, anúncio que deverá ser feito em conferência de imprensa daqui a alguns minutos.

An irresistabily amazing World Cup 2014 Calendar

North american photgrapher Tim Tadder, who worked with brands like Adidas and Budweiser and even with athletes like Michael Phelps, joined CG artist Mike Campau to create a World Cup 2014 calendar, where beatifull women are representing competing countries in settings that remind us of Rio and other locations around the world.

O fotógrafo norte-americano Tim Tadder, que já trabalhou com grandes marcas como a Adidas e a Budweiser e até atletas como Michael Phelps, decidiu juntar-se ao artista gráfico Mike Campau e criar um calendário sobre o Mundial de 2014 no Brasil, com mulheres bonitas a representarem diferente países e cenários criados artificialmente que recriam pormenores do Rio e de outros locais do mundo.

Jupp Heynckes is FIFA's Coach of the Year 2013

After one week where everyone talked about Cristiano Ronaldo, it's important to remind ourselves that in the past 13th, FIFA also awarded the prize for Best Coach of 2013.

The honor went to the 68 year-old german Jupp Heynckes, an acknowledgment to his coach career after his early years as a top professional football player (he still is the third top scorer in the Bundesliga with 220 goals, behind Klaus Fischer's 268 and the 365 goals mark made by Gerd Müller).

It was in 1979 that Heynckes abandoned the player carreer and started coaching is hometown club, Borussia Mönchengladbach (we refered it last week regarding Ter Stegen's possible millionary deal) and going on to win several titles for the German national team and in clubs like Atlético de Bilbao, Bayer Leverkusen and Real Madrid.

The FIFA Coach of the Year award comes after a great season at Bayern Munich, where he lead his team to a triple victory after being champion of the Bundesliga, victor in the Germany Cup and winner of the Champions League.

Jupp Heynckes é o Treinador do Ano FIFA de 2013

Depois de uma semana a falar de Cristiano Ronaldo, é importante lembrar que no passado dia 13 a FIFA distingui também aquele que foi votado o Treinador do Ano em 2013.

O prémio foi atribuido ao alemão Jupp Heynckes que aos 68 anos, ganha assim o reconhecimento pela sua carreira de treinador, que começou depois de longos anos enquanto jogador profissional de primeira linha (continua a ser o terceiro melhor marcador da Bundesliga com 220 golos, atrás de Klaus Fischer com 268 e dos 365 de Gerd Müller.

Em 1979 deu um novo rumo à sua carreira tornando-se treinador do clube da sua cidade natal, o Borussia Mönchengladbach (de onde noticiámos aqui a possível transferência milionária de Ter Stegen), tendo ganho a partir dai diversos títulos ao serviço da selecção Alemã e de clubes como o Atlético de Bilbao, Bayer Leverkusen e Real Madrid e como alguns estarão recordados aos comandos do Benfica por uma temporada.

O prémio de Treinador do Ano FIFA, surge no seguimento da última temporada, em que levou o Bayern de Munique a uma tripla vitória, tendo sido campeão da Bundesliga, ganhando a Copa da Alemanha e vencendo a Liga dos Campeões.

Player suffers an unusual injury... in a testicle

Geatafe's defender Alexis Ruano, suffered an unusual injuring during this Thursday's match against Barcelona (Barcelona ended winning 2-0).

The 28-year-old player had to leave the pitch in a stretcher 36 minutes in the game and in the match press debrief coach Luis Garcia confirmed the testicular injury.

"Alexis has a testicle like this..."

Told Garcia to the reporters while gesturing the size of a handball with his hands.

"Some veins were broken. It's nothing serious. When I entered the changing room,
I was scared, but it's not serious. I've never seen anything like it."

Even though the injury was not that serious Ruano may still have to miss this Sunday's game against Real Sociedad.

Jogador sofre uma rutura... de veias do testículo

Alexis Ruano, defesa do Getafe, sofreu uma estranha lesão durante o jogo contra o Barcelona, esta quinta-feira (jogo que os catalães acabaram a ganhar por duas bolas a zero).

O jogador de 28 anos teve de sair do campo numa maca aos 36 minutos e no fim do jogo, o treinador Luís Garcia confirmou que o problema teria sido uma rutura de veias, num dos testículos.

"O Alexis está com um testículo deste tamanho..."

Contou Garcia aos jornalistas enquanto simulava o volume de uma bola de andebol com as duas mãos.

"Algumas veias romperam nitidamente. Não é nada de alarmante. Quando cheguei aos balneários, estava bastante preocupado mas parece que não é razão para preocupação escessiva. Nunca tinha visto nada parecido!"

Apesar de a lesão não ser incapacitante, Ruano provavelmente não jogará este Sábado no jogo do Getafe contra a Real Sociedad.

Ter Stegen may cost Barcelona 12 Million Euros

After Barcelona's offer of 8 million euros at the end of last year, Borussia Monchengladbach is now saying that german goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, will only leave the club for 12 millions.

The interest of the spaniards is due to the need of finding a goalkeeper to wear the heavy gloves of Victor Valdés, poised to leave the club by the summer of 2014.

If the business has a go ahead, Ter Setegn will rank 4th in the list of the most expensive goalkeepers, after Francesco Toldo that costed 16 millions to Inter Milan, Angelo Peruzzi who transfered to Lazio for 16 millions and the one and only Buffon that raised the bar to 37 million euros when he assumed the role of denying Juventus adversaries of their goals.

FIFA Ballon D'Or 2013 goes to Ronaldo

"It's a joyful moment since it's the sixth time in in the podium. Obviously everyone wants to win but I try to give my best year after year, improving on every aspect."

These were Cristiano Ronaldo's words, minutes before it was revealed that FIFA's Ballon D'Or would be his in 2013, interrupting Messi's win streak that lasted the 4 previous years.

The Portuguese player that saw the opening of his own museum days ago in the island of Madeira, becomes the firt Portugues player to win 2 Ballon D'Or's (the first one was in 2008), after recently diseased Eusébio that won one in 1965 and Portuguese national team captain Luís Figo that claimed his own in 2000.

FIFA Ballon D'Or is a fusion of the old FIFA Player of the Year award with France Football's Ballon D'Or, that were awarded separately until 2010.

FIFA wants to move Quatar 2022 World Cup to the Winter

In an interview for France Info FIFA's deputy-general, Jérôme Valcke, claimed that the organization is planning to have the Qatar 2022 World Cup between the 15th November and the 15th January of 2023, instead of the traditional June and July.

"It will be played between November 15 and January 15 at the latest. If it's played between November 15 and the end of December, that is when the weather is most favorable."

This plans are due to the normal temperature in Qatar in the summer months being 50 degrees celsius, which would cause big handicaps for the player's performance, this because of the challenging of keeping hidration under physical workout with this temperatures, during 45 minutes.

FIFA claims to have already consulted with football deciders around the world and the opinion is favorable but the official calendar will only be revealed in December of 2014.

FIFA quer mudar o Mundial de 2022 do Verão para o Inverno

Em entrevista à France Info, o secretário-geral da FIFA, Jérôme Valcke, afirmou que está nos planos da organização realizar o Mundial de 2022 no Qatar, entre 15 de Novembro e 15 de Janeiro de 2023, em vez dos já tradicionais meses de Junho e Julho.

"Será disputado entre 15 de novembro e 15 de janeiro, no máximo. Se jogarmos entre novembro e dezembro, uma altura em que as condições climatéricas são melhores, teremos temperaturas semelhantes a uma primavera quente na Europa, com cerca de 25 graus e isso seria o melhor para jogar futebol."

Esta mudança prende-se com o facto de a temperatura normal entre Junho e Julho no Qatar, serem cerca de 50 graus celsius o que iria causar dificuldades acrescidas aos atletas em termos de prestação física, devido às dificuldades de manter hidratação, em esforço físico, sob esta temperatura durante 45 minutos.

A FIFA já terá consultado os vários agentes do futebol mundial que terão uma opinião em princípio favorável mas só se saberá as datas concretas deste mundial em Dezembro de 2014.

Eusébio dies today after 71 years of Football

Today, 5th January at 4am, died the greatest symbol of portuguese football and one of the biggest names in the football world.

Eusébio da Silva Ferreira, nicknamed Black Panther (due to it's agressive playing style) by english newsman Desmond Hacket, was 7 times the best scorer in the portuguese championship, 2 times the best scorer in Europe and was elected 1 time as the best european player. At Sport Lisboa e Benfica he was 11 times national champion, playing in 294 games in which he scored 316 goals, won the portuguese national cup 5 times, an european championship in 1961/62 and conquered the Champions League in 62/63 and 67/68.

His body will be at Benfica's Luz Stadium from 17.30pm today for friends and fans to pay their respects.

O corpo de Eusébio vai estar em câmara ardente no Estádio da Luz, a partir das 17h30 deste Domingo.

Amanhã, segunda-feira, a urna dará uma volta ao estádio às 13h e 30m, saindo em cortejo até à Praça do Município às 15h 15m. Às 16h será celebrada uma missa na Igreja do Seminário, no Largo da Luz, e o funeral será realizado às 17h00 no Cemitério do Lumiar.

O Presidente da República decretou hoje também, 3 dias de luto nacional em honra de um dos mais respeitados portugueses de todos os tempos.
