Today, 5th January at 4am, died the greatest symbol of portuguese football and one of the biggest names in the football world.
Eusébio da Silva Ferreira, nicknamed Black Panther (due to it's agressive playing style) by english newsman Desmond Hacket, was 7 times the best scorer in the portuguese championship, 2 times the best scorer in Europe and was elected 1 time as the best european player. At Sport Lisboa e Benfica he was 11 times national champion, playing in 294 games in which he scored 316 goals, won the portuguese national cup 5 times, an european championship in 1961/62 and conquered the Champions League in 62/63 and 67/68.
His body will be at Benfica's Luz Stadium from 17.30pm today for friends and fans to pay their respects.
A official national 3 days of mourning was declared today in Portugal
